Tradition states that, every four years, women can grab the chance
to propose to their partners on February 29th, that oddity in the calendar
which marks 2012 as a Leap Year.
Of course, there's no reason that women can't
propose marriage on any day of any year. But Leap Years and the traditions which
come along with them endure, and there's no denying that they do raise a smile.
Are you planning on popping the question this Leap Year? You can tell me.... I
won't spill the beans.
What better way to remember such a special occasion than
with an engagement shoot? Let me tell you why
engagement photography is a great idea, no matter who got down on one knee!
- Remember the moment. Engagements can go by in a flash. The focus
often shifts quickly to the wedding, and planning can take over. The excitement
and exhilaration of being newly-engaged can get forgotten, and this is a shame.
Engagement photo shoots capture this special time, which does after all deserve
to be remembered!
- Something different. Your wedding photos will be very distinctive,
after all, there's no denying a wedding photo (the white dress and flowers
usually give it away... )! Engagement photographs are something a little
different. Not everyone will have them, and they sit beautifully between the
photos you'll have in your own collection and your wedding photos.
- Your first official couples photos. Leading on from the previous
point, engagement photography is important because it's often the first
official, professional set of photos you'll have done as a couple. No matter
how long you've been together, or how you met, chances are the only photos you
have of you both together are from parties or special events, usually taken by
a camera phone. Many people don't have any photos with both of them in, simply
because one of the couple was always taking the photo!
- Meet your wedding photographer. This is one of the most important
aspects of engagement photo shoots. They enable you to meet your wedding
photographer, and for the photographer to meet both of you, too. You can get to
know each other, feel relaxed around each other and understand what's required
during a shoot to get the very best images. Then, on your wedding day, you'll
feel like old friends and the resulting wedding pictures will be that much
better.
- Lovely gifts - or wedding invitations. Many of my clients choose a favourite image from their engagement photo shoot as wedding invitations. What
a lovely idea!
Whether you get engaged on February 29th or on another day in this
Leap Year, have a think about the benefits of an engagement photo shoot, and
give me a call to discuss your ideal images. Together we will make them
happen!
